Insurance benefits are shrinking constantly while prescription prices break our banks. When the cost of a single pill can vary from $1 to $10, it's no longer just the elderly who are faced with the choice of eating or buying medications.
Fortunately, besides driving to Mexico, paying an unknown doctor $10 to write a prescription and getting it filled there -- and not being sure what you're getting -- there are places where you can find breaks on the prices of reliable prescription medications and over-the-counter needs.
The medications we have ordered through these places have been identical to those purchased at local pharmacies for a fraction of the price.
Discount Pharmacies
The services do not yet offer narcotics, but we can save hundreds by using these discount pharmacies for other medical needs, both prescription and non-prescription.They are legitimate, requiring a prescription from your doctor mailed, called or faxed to them along with all your personal information (date of birth, social security number, etc.). These prescriptions are then rewritten for them by their own doctor, filled, and shipped to you.
They keep records so people can't order too much medication and some will even remind you when it's time to re-order. They require a credit card or prior payment with a money order or cashier's check. These pharmacies even allow refills just like your local pharmacy on medications that are permitted refills.
TIP: Take the information from the web site with you to your doctor along with our recommendation so the doctor can see this is on the up and up. We've personally used drugstore.com and Canada Pharmacy, but most operate the same way.
Canada Pharmacy - The medications are the same as those sold in the U.S. and prices are lower. They also have more variety and choice of quantity and dosage.
